Overview
WESTERN 649 is the regional 6/49 lottery of the Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC). It is sold only in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and the northern territories, and is not available through Loto-Québec.
It works like a classic 6/49, drawn on the same nights as the national Lotto 6/49, with a top prize of up to $2,000,000. The odds of matching all 6 numbers are roughly one in 14 million, so it is best treated as entertainment, not a source of income.
Rules and how it works
- Each selection of 6 numbers from 1 to 49 costs $1; you can pick your numbers or use Quick Pick.
- Matching all 6 numbers wins the top prize, up to $2,000,000.
- Lower prizes pay for partial matches, according to the official prize table.
- Sales close at 9:30 p.m. CT, 8:30 p.m. MT or 7:30 p.m. PT on the draw date.
- The EXTRA add-on can be played for $1 more per number.
Minimum age
In Québec, buying lottery tickets and taking part in games of chance is restricted to people 18 and over.
