Ontario 49

Overview

ONTARIO 49 is the regional lottery of the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG). It uses the classic 6/49 format, but with a fixed $2,000,000 jackpot rather than one that grows from draw to draw. It is sold only in Ontario and is not available through Loto-Québec.

Its closest Québec counterpart is Québec 49, also drawn twice a week on a 6/49 grid. The odds of matching all 6 numbers are the same as in any 6/49 lottery, roughly one in 14 million, and the jackpot is shared when there is more than one winner.

Rules and how it works

• A $1 play includes 1 selection of 6 numbers from 1 to 49, picked by you or at random.
• You win with 2 to 6 matching numbers; a bonus number applies to the 5/6+B and 2/6+B categories.
• The $2,000,000 jackpot (6/6) and the $50,000 prize (5/6+B) are shared among winners in that category.
• Matching 2 numbers wins a free play.
• ENCORE can be added for $1 more, and Advance Play lets you play up to 26 weeks in a row.

Minimum age

In Québec, buying lottery tickets and taking part in games of chance is restricted to people 18 and over.
