Overview

In Texas Hold’em, each player gets two hidden cards and shares five community cards revealed in three stages: the flop (three cards), the turn and the river. You make your best five-card hand from the seven available.

The game is played no-limit, pot-limit or fixed-limit, and these structures change the style of play a lot. Loto-Québec’s OK POKER platform also offers Tout d’un coup, a fast variant where all five community cards are revealed at once.

Rules and how it works

  • Two players post the blinds (small and big) before the deal.
  • Each player gets 2 hole cards; first betting round.
  • Flop (3 community cards), turn (1), river (1), each followed by a betting round.
  • At showdown, the best 5-card hand wins the pot.
  • In no-limit, you can bet your whole stack at any time (“all-in”).

Minimum age

In Québec, buying lottery tickets and taking part in games of chance is restricted to people 18 and over.
