Roulette

Overview

Roulette is the easiest casino game to follow: you bet on where the ball will land. In the European version the wheel has 37 pockets, numbered 0 to 36; the green zero is neither red nor black, odd nor even.

“Even-money” bets (red or black, odd or even) win often but pay little; a single number pays much more but rarely hits. No betting system changes the house edge, which comes from the zero.

Rules and how it works

• Place your chips on the layout before the dealer closes betting.
• Inside bets: a single number or a small group of adjacent numbers.
• Outside bets: colour, odd or even, low or high, dozens, columns.
• The dealer spins the ball; bets covering the winning pocket are paid according to the payout table.

Minimum age

In Québec, buying lottery tickets and taking part in games of chance is restricted to people 18 and over.
