Blackjack

Overview

In blackjack, each player faces the dealer, not the other players. The goal is a hand closer to 21 than the house’s, without going over. Face cards count 10, aces count 1 or 11, and other cards their face value.

There are many variants (one or two decks, side bets, progressive jackpots). Loto-Québec’s online platform offers several in its table games category; exact rules and betting limits vary from game to game.

Rules and how it works

• Each player gets two cards; the dealer shows one.
• You can hit, stand, double down or split a pair, depending on the table rules.
• A hand over 21 loses automatically.
• An ace with a 10-value card on the deal is a blackjack.
• The dealer follows fixed rules for hitting or standing and makes no strategic choices.

Minimum age

In Québec, buying lottery tickets and taking part in games of chance is restricted to people 18 and over.
