Overview

Table poker games use standard poker hand rankings, but you play against the house, not against other people. There is no bluffing: your hand is compared with the dealer’s, and payouts follow a fixed table.

Common variants include Three Card Poker, Casino Hold’em (shared cards as in Texas Hold’em) and Pai Gow (two hands to build). For player-versus-player poker, see our Poker section.

Rules and how it works

  • Place an initial bet (ante), sometimes with a side bet.
  • Get your cards and decide to continue, by adding a bet, or to fold.
  • The dealer reveals their hand, often needing a minimum hand to “qualify”.
  • The better hand wins and payouts follow the game’s paytable.

Minimum age

In Québec, buying lottery tickets and taking part in games of chance is restricted to people 18 and over.
