Lotto 6/49

Overview

Lotto 6/49 has been around since 1982 and is still the benchmark among Canadian lotteries. Every ticket has two parts: the classic selection of 6 numbers, which you can choose, and a Gold Ball draw number that is always computer-generated.

The Gold Ball draw produces a winner at every draw; the amount depends on which ball comes out of the drum. The classic draw works like a traditional lottery, with a bonus number for some prize categories.

Rules and how it works

• One play includes 1 classic selection of 6 numbers from 1 to 49 and 1 computer-generated 10-digit Gold Ball number.
• In the classic draw, you win with 2 to 6 matching numbers in the same selection.
• The bonus number only applies to the 2/6+B and 5/6+B categories.
• The Gold Ball draw is a guaranteed prize: a winning number is drawn every time.
• Double Jeu 49 lets you play the same numbers on Lotto 6/49 and Québec 49.

Minimum age

In Québec, buying lottery tickets and taking part in games of chance is restricted to people 18 and over.
