Understanding Sports
A sports bet is a wager on the outcome of a game or event: the winner, the number of goals, the point spread. The odds show how much a winning bet would pay; they also include the operator’s margin, so the implied probabilities always add up to more than 100%. Parlays multiply the odds but require every selection to win, which sharply lowers the chance of success.
Knowing a sport well is not enough to beat the operator’s margin over time. Live betting, where new bets open throughout the game, calls for extra attention to your budget. Useful guidelines are on our Responsible gaming page.
